She will always love us.
Through all the stumbles and falls.
It’s a love that transcends our identities, 
breaking down the heavy walls.

Inspired by a feeling, this piece started from a blank canvas during a live painting experience in Vienna, Austria at the Palai Palffy in 2014. 
The model was imaginary though I knew she would become a portrait of someone I knew.
It took a couple years for me to realize that my dear sister Katharina would became her embodiment. She posed for the painting after being diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer when her daughter was only a year old.
She didn’t stay around for much longer, though in that time this painting transcended a feeling, it became deeply personal and universal at the same time.

She is a timeless image of the Mother.
A reminder of our humanity.
